  1. This poem is very tragic and the tone is very melancholy. One of the main devices used is malapropism. The fairytale titles are all substituded with different words to describe being fat. The speaker has clearly either personally experienced, or witnessed accounts of people not being accepted because of their weight. Currently, people strive to be thin, no matter what their size. Everyone is so revolved around their weight, and if you are not considered skinny then you are very outcasted and made fun of. I think the malapropism with the titles is a little comic relief because it is mocking the fairytales that are so superficially beautiful. This speaker is really concentrated on a person's inside figure, rather than their weight. The repetiton of "I am thinking" shows how the speaker realizes that her own desire for this fairytale, is a fairytale. The speaker knows that no one is really going to create these fairytales and that it is possible society may not sway their opinion on superficial looks. The main devices are diction, figurative language, and repetiton.

  2. The speaker is very against societies views of how women should be. Her feminist views are strongly showed through her diction. The word choice of "cinder elephant, sleeping tubby, and snow weight" gave the too slim characters a negative connotation. She says being skinny should not be related to beauty or character of a person.
